Administration	Rutgers Mark
'Administration' valt niet samen met de betekenis van de Nederlandse term 'administratie'. Het kan afhankelijk van de context vertaald woorden als bestuur, regering, beheer, management, maar ook als ministerie of dienst. Zo is de 'Bush administration' de regering Bush en betreft 'financial administration' het financieel beheer. Het begrip wordt wel omschreven als 'het proces of de activiteit van het leiding geven aan een organizatie'. Meer specifiek gaat het om het besturen van de publieke zaak (compare 'Administratie' in the Dutch-English section). 'Administration' is not equivalent to the Dutch 'administratie'. The latter has a much more limited meaning and refers primarily to 'the record office', such as captured in 'financial administration'. 'Administration' has to be translated into Dutch debending on the context.
Agency	Rutgers Mark
Bureau, instelling, agentschap: "business or organization established to provide a particular service, typically one that involves organizing transactions between two other parties." "A department or body providing a particular service for government or other organization."
Due process	Rutgers Mark
Is een algemeen gangbare term waarin wordt aangegeven dat er sprake is van een eerlijke rechtgang volgens de geldende juridische procedures, normen en waarden: "fair treatment through the normal judicial system."
Policies	Rutgers Mark
Het Engels kent een meervoudsvorm voor 'beleid'. Policy: "Course or principle of action adopted or approved by a governement, party, business, or individual." In English there is a specific word for the plural of policy, which is not available in Dutch. In Dutch there is only the singular for policy "beleid". So, instead of "environmental policies" one has to state in Dutch for instance "multiple kinds of environmental policy." Note that there is no straightforward equivalent for "policy" in German or French at all: see also "polity."
Polity	Rutgers Mark
Een specifieke term voor wat geduid kan worden als de 'regeringsvorm', 'het staatsbestel' als geheel van regels, omgangsvormen en inrichting van een samenleving of deel daarvan: 'a form or process of civil goverenment or constitution.' This word is of specific interest as in Continental Europe, thus including Dutch (German and French) the original equivalent expression was politie (Polizei, police). It denoted the entire state activities (officers, regulations and the like, in let's roughly say, the absolute state. Mid 19th century the meaning of 'politie' became limited to the modern police, whereas in English 'polity' is still close to this meaning. In between 'politics' and 'policy' there is no Dutch equivalent, whilst in German and French, there is no equivalent for policy either (which is therefore usually equated with planning in these languages).
