Call for Submissions | 2018 Award for Concept Analysis in Political Science

The Committee on Concepts and Methods (C&M) of the International Political Science Association invites submissions to its 2018 Award for Concept Analysis in Political Science.  

The award is given every three years at the World Congress of the International Political Science Association (IPSA).  The 6th C&M Award will be given to a scholarly work published between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2017. Any category of formal publication may be submitted, whether book, book chapter, or journal article. Only English language publications are considered.

The notion of “concept analysis” is to be understood broadly. It is intended to cover concept analysis, concept formation, and conceptual innovation as well as the fields of operationalization, measurement, and data collection and analysis. 

JURY: The 2018 Award Jury will be formed Robert Adcock (American University), Jennifer Gandhi (Emory University), and Jan Teorell (Lund University). 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Submissions to the 2018 C&M Award for Concept Analysis in Political Science are open to authors, journal editors, and book publishers. We encourage self-nominations. When submitting the work of others, please make sure you have obtained the express consent of the author. 

All submissions must include: 

  • a digital copy of the work submitted (hard copies of books may be mailed but they should be accompanied by an email noting the submission)
  • a brief justification (one paragraph), and
  • contact information for the author. 


Submissions should be emailed (or sent by post, if necessary) by June 1, 2018 to the three members of the jury, as well as the C&M Chair at the following addresses:
